Super supplements

At this stage, you should all be in the habit of taking Apple Cider Vinegar, 15ml in the am after your inner bath. Then with your first meal – Krill Oil, Vitamin D3 and K2. Liquid greens 15mls at lunch if you are taking (not everyone is). Effervescent Vitamin C mixed in 800 to 1000ml of water or 1000mg vitamin C pill, with your carb meal because its sweet.

Direct sunlight and contact with the earth via barefeet or sitting in the grass or sand for 15-30 minutes a day, preferably in the morning, with no sunglasses – weather and time permitting. 2-3 Epsom salt baths a week 1/2 to 1 cup per bath (essential oils optional) AT LEAST 90 minutes before bed, to allow your core body temperature to drop back down to the ideal temperature for good sleep. And of course your tea and collagen are considered supplements too.

But now as you know, there was a select group of foods that can provide even more than satiety — we call these ‘super foods’ and they aren’t alone with their incredible benefits. Hand in hand with super foods is ‘super supplements’.

Super supplements

These are an option, for those who want the benefits of super foods but with a bigger BANG. The combination of the two groups equals enormous nutrients and health benefits that many people miss out on. These super supplements, you may recognize, also may play an important role in the prevention and management of certain diseases too.

There’s no official scientific definition for super foods, but it’s generally accepted that super foods contain high levels of much-needed vitamins and minerals. Super supplements also follow this trend but with the ability to clean out your body, build stronger tissues, fight bacteria’s and infections, balance hormones and blood sugars, turn on and off genes, change genetic expressions, and just overall help you hack your biology effectively. Making you feel super human, or at the least, your very best.

Below are some of my favorite super supplements. You may have heard me recommend from time to time, and what it is they do. In no specific order, they are as follows;

Colloidal silver

is one of my favorite supplements for staying strong and I prefer to use the spray rather than dropper. Silver is a powerful antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral for preventing illness and can also be used even after you get sick.  I like to use silver whenever I see a bacteria or fungal overgrowth or if I see someone fighting a virus. Its great for sore throats and rashes. Is safe to be used topically too. I have dabbed some silver on my sons eyelid when he had a sty and withing a few hours it was gone.

Berberine

one of my all time go to’s for blood sugar management. Works better than metformin but with none of the side effects. Berberine helps the body metabolize sugar more effectively which can be a great aid in weight loss, weight management, and diabetes management. Berberine also has the ability to help the body fight off fungal overgrowth’s like Candida, bacterial over growths like BV, and may play a part in Cancer prevention.

Resveratrol

is a polyphenol and part of our SIRTfood food. It has powerful anti aging properties, protects against obesity and age related diseases, and has been shown to mimic the effects of calorie restriction and exercise, most likely due to being a sirtuin activator. Studies show it can also enhance mitochondrial metabolism (your bodies metabolism) and fat management. Resveratrol is also a natural poison or modbiotic, that can help control overgrowth’s of bacteria in your gut. When I introduce a resveratrol supplement into clients diets that are already clean and SIRTfood dominant, we see a big change in body composition and overall feeling of ‘wellness’. Resveratrol has a lot of research around Cancer too.

Serrapeptase

is an enzyme found in the digestive tract of the Japanese silkworm. When taken as a supplement, it is absorbed systemically. It’s epic for tackling everything from allergies, breaking down fibroid’s, cysts and skin tags, combating inflammation and has the ability to clean out damaged proteins from the body, ESPECIALLY around the sinuses. Serapeptase works like autophagy does (how the body cleans itself). I most commonly recommend serrapeptase for sinus congestion, allergies, chronic inflammation and scar tissue. Starting with 120,000sU’s in the morning, and increasing to 240,000 sU’s as needs be. *you must not consume any calories for 40 minutes before or after taking serrapeptase.

Hydrochloric acid and betaine

is an awesome digestive aid. I will usually recommend if I see someone having issues breaking down foods or not pooping properly. HCL is naturally produced in the stomach to break down protein and fat, and supplementing with it may greatly enhance digestion in some individuals and give a relief to gut distress.

Digestive enzymes

Contain enzymes that break down specific macronutrients, but also contain other digestive promoters like pepsin and bromelain, to help the stomach with the break down of proteins, fat, carbs and even bacteria. Supporting good digestion, better assimilation adn utilization of nutrients.

N-acetylcysteine

NAC is the precursor to our master antioxidant ‘glutathione’ that helps reduce free radical damage, and plays a role in the detoxification of heavy metals and other harmful substances in our body. NAC is believed to also have anti aging benefits. The most common use of NAC is for liver support, but it’s also showing tremendous promise in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and PTSD, and in Covid 19.

Magenesium

is one of the most important nutrients required for our bodies. It is responsible for over 300 biochemical reactions in the body (but some say in reality its over 1000!). I like to use magnesium citrate or glycinate to help with bowel movements, release tension in the body, as a sleep aid and for thyroid support. Magnesium is also super important for strong bones, energy production, maintaining normal blood pressure and regulating blood sugar. My favorite form of magnesium is elemental magnesium bound in molecular hydrogen, but that can be expensive. So, as an alternative, I have found Thorne research Magnesium Citramate to be effective for supporting sleep and relieving tension in the body. 100-200 mg before bed seems to work well.

Chlorophyll

yes this is part of my regime a few times a week. Think of chlorophyll as an internal cleaner or deodorizer. It is a powerful chelator, which means it binds to toxins and helps transport them out of the body. This is super important if you are worried about heavy metal build up in your body or brain. Chlorophyll acts like hemoglobin in our bodies, increasing oxygenation and nutrient delivery to our cells. This unique activity is responsible for chlorophyll’s well-known blood building and cleansing properties. There is also research supporting Chlorophylls ability to perform “photosynthesis” in the body and thus help with energy production! Basically using the sun to create energy, the way plants do. How crazy is that?!

Hydrolyzed collagen peptides

is the principal structural protein in cartilage which provides strength, flexibility and joint support. It comprises over 50% of the protein in cartilage and over 90% of articular (joint) cartilage. Collagen is a whole food concentrate that has no known side effects and provides maximum absorption. I like to use organic hydrolyzed collagen peptides post workout to support recovery and ligaments as they are more bioavailable. Collagen is also an essential part of any women’s beauty regime to support skin elasticity and regeneration, and is an effective sleep aid. You have a whole section on this in module 2.

Creatine monohydrate

one of the most researched performance and cognition-enhancing molecules on the planet. Creatine plays a crucial role in the production of cellular energy by making ATP which improves your ability to focus both mentally and physically. Creatine has also been shown to be safe to give to teens age 13 and up to improve brain performance. Creatine is naturally produced in the body but many of us struggle to use it or make enough of it, so supplementing is helpful. You may have heard of creatine being used in the fitness/bodybuilding world. This is because creatine supports the enhancement of strength and muscle growth, through that ATP cycle and improved performance. Please note; not everyone does well on creatine – consult me first.

*I may add some other supplements to this list over time. Ginkgo is definitely a great one but there is lots on that in the immune booster guide. Also GABA and L-Glutamine but I did 2 podcast episodes on these recently.

These are “some” of  the supplements that I feel support us on a super level BUT don’t jump the gun and decide to buy all. You don’t need to and its not recommended.

Assess what you may need or like to try, and even ask my opinion before you make any purchases.
