Module 1 – The Liver
The liver is one of our most important organs and is directly connected to thyroid function. Because of this you completed the 7-Day Liver Detox before getting into the masters guide properly. How did you like it? It is designed to support liver health and boost thyroid function.
The liver, as you now know, is one of our main detoxifcation organs and a problem for many people. Especially when it comes to good health, a strong metabolism, metabolic fleixiblity and insulin sensitivity, thyroid health (as mentioned), cortisol issues, hair loss, inflammation, sleep issues, brain fog, poor circulation, estrogen dominance, diabetes, gout, gut health, skin issues, infections and more.
We know a lot of health issues, are associated with other driving factors, but we are one system and its all connected. We can’t address one issue without addressing all! And because the liver is such a big factor in health, I felt it deserved a section of its own, that compliments the previous toxic overload section.
Your liver is your second largest organ and is actually responsible for supporting over 400 functions in the body. The liver gets about 7 liters of blood every hour. Thats crazy right?!
When your liver is not working properly – apart from thyroid issues accruing, many other aspects of your health and functions of your body are going to go downhill fast, think of fatty liver and metabolic disease.
Every drop of blood that goes through your body, gets filtered through your liver every hour. Crazy!
NOTE; Insulin resistance starts in then liver (and the muscle) and then drives diabetes, fatty liver disease, gout, and more.
Symptoms of poor liver function;
slow metabolism
slow thyroid or hypothyroidism
low progesterone
high estrogen
jaundice and yellowing of the sclera of the eyes
gallbladder and bile issues
diarrhea
fatty liver disease - both alcoholic and non alcoholic
insulin resistance
high cholesterol
poor circulation
fatigue
dehydration
visceral fat
systemic inflammation
skin issues and breakouts
issues losing weight
If ignored and left untreated, obviously, symptoms and conditions can worsen. Leading to diabetes, blindness, cardiovascular disease, gout, amputation or worse.
So what should we do?
Well apart from doing the 7-Day Liver Detox, which you can do a few times a year, we have to look at what stresses the liver and start to reduce/elimnate them. The we look at what supports a healthy, well functioning liver and we add them in.
Reduce or eliminate;
heavy metals
toxins
alcohol
processed, junk and fast food
trans fats or PUFAs - these are your polyunsaturated fats, basically processed seed and vegetable oils
inflammation
stress where possible
lose body fat if necessary
Increase or add in;
*you do not need to take/do all of these.
